1. The Barakat Trust Award, 1990, The Royal College of Art

2. The Fleur Cowles Award for Excellence, 1990, The Royal College of Art

3. Emma was one of three nominees for the Award in the Arts and Culture Excellence category in the Muslim Power 100 (2007) and is included in the publication accompanying the event.

4. She was invited to be a nominee for the Muslim Women Achievers Award (2009) and was featured in Emel magazine’s ‘Best of Britain’ article (Nov. 2008).

Emma is a member of the Academic Board of The Temenos Academy (Patron HRH The Prince of Wales) and is a Trustee of The Matheson Trust, a charity dedicated to the study of comparative religion.

As an English Muslim, Emma combines her spiritual understanding of the Islamic garden with her love of the English gardening tradition, and feels very fortunate in being given the opportunity to put this combination to practical use when designing gardens in the United Kingdom.
